We’ve been quiet for awhile, but we’re peeking our heads out now and laying down some big plans for the year.
We have a whole lot of fun new things coming your way, but for now let’s talk about creative submissions; a NEW monthly creative challenge for our artist community, and looming deadline for our April printed issue. Find out more below… and then let’s make things together!
Firstly: monthly creative challenge kickoff
Now a word from Ashton, one of our editors:
We get so many awesome submissions for the magazine issues, but there are only so many pages. As a way to further inspire artist culture in Joplin, we are planning to begin posting a monthly theme-based submission challenge. The issue will be posted on the 1st of each month and the deadline will be the last day of the month.
Our hope is that artists of all mediums (including writers, who can qualify with works of 500 words or less) are able to express themselves through this submission challenge. Don’t forget to post your work on your own social media and use the Hashtag #ToadArtChallenge.
The Editors Pick Winner for February will receive a free toad tee-shirt and $10 gift card to the local business of their choosing; the top 3 Editor’s Picks will be reposted as an artist spotlight on Joplin Toad social media accounts!

Secondish: Volume II, issue 1 submissions (only one week left!!)
While we’re super excited for the monthly creative challenge kicking off this month, we’re ALSO still looking for work for the magazine itself. We’re working on VOLUME 2, issue 1, as we speak:
-submission deadline: Feb 15 (need a few more days for your idea? talk to us and we’ll see what we can do).
