Retro Joplin: twas the night before shopping
by Lesli Neuenschwander
Twas the night before shopping,
and all through the house,
not a creature was stirring
except maybe a mouse.
Next day.....
The sister's excitement on that day was clear
with lists held so tight,
And girls showing no fear.
"I'll hit the mall!" said Tammy,
"And I'll go to the shopping center, too!"
"Right on," said Debbie, "for all of my shopping,
I'm going with you!"
So down Rangeline they drove in their cool blue Grenada,
but food first at Montez's for a big enchilada.
"I'm so full, I can't eat another bite ",
"Oh!" said Debbie--"Let's go to the Plaza,
Their ads are outta sight!"
So on and on their shopping day went,
buying gifts at Wal-Mart, and Wards,
until their money was (almost) spent.
Now on to Main Street for just a few more things,
On to Shank's,
on to Otasco
on to Newton's,
for jewelry and rings!
For mom a new apron, and at Southtown for dad a new reel,
"Oh!" said Tammy--"Don't forget about Doug!,
Let's get him a Pong game--I can get a great deal!"
So finally the girls had had enough shopping,
And they were ready to sit and stop their shop hopping.
Since the sisters were tired, and needed a rest,
They decided a movie at Eastgate,
Because it was the best!
And Debbie and Tammy? Well, It's the end of their story,
They just loved shopping in Joplin,
With it's variety and glory!
