Evergreen
coniferous, conceited
monotone in monochrome
is finally rewarded
only green, and ever so
beautiful but shorter days
defeated with hanging Light
announcing life amidst death
Advent, bless-ed Advent: Christ!

HOPE
Life changes,
dreams fall to the floor
and the future
goes dimmer
as an old light bulb
faintly flickers.
Hope.
They say the sun
will always rise.
That dreams will awaken-
new dreams
dancing in springtime.
Hope.
I say I cannot see
beyond my own nose,
that I'm tired and full
of unfulfilled wishes.
Night falls and cold
stars shine out
on a frost covered world
